BUTLINS ‘77

BUTLINS ‘77

£180.00

LIMITED EDITION WOOD CUT

My family went to Filey Butlins holiday camp for a week in 1977 - my dad desperately didn’t want to go, he hated Butlins, thought it was ‘common’, and wanted us all to go watch him salmon fishing for a week in Scotland; he lost, my mum (who could organise a sing along in a lift) won. My dad refused to join in the (enforced) fun at Butlins and was miserable all week. I saw this T-shirt, ‘Pissed Again’ and loved it - as a 7 year-old, I wasn’t allowed to get it, but as a compromise my mum insisted that my dad buy it and wear it - “to be more like the other dads” - his misery found new depths - Scott King
