THE NEW SPACE

THE NEW SPACE
Set over one apocalyptically hot summer…
Part-manifesto, part-novel: ‘The New Space’ recounts the story of a lone culture worker (‘artist’) who – in one last desperate bid for relevance – and armed only with access to social media – declares ‘information war’ on the entire Culture Industry and its gatekeeper-managers - AKA - ‘Space Control’.
“Space Control do not like innovation: they like heavily sign-posted and transparent ‘lineage’ – a composite of ‘influences’ so close to their origin that they are almost copies. So, it’s crucial that I conjure up an aesthetic that reminds them of what they already like: ‘Battleship Potemkin’, ‘L’Atalante’, ‘Andrei Rublev’ - maybe even ‘Eraserhead’ – or, even better: something to do with Throbbing Gristle.”
